Looking Back

A few weeks ago when we went to San Diego to my parents house for Thanksgiving, we went to a high school semi-final football game that my brother helps coach. I think it had been 20 years since the last time I was at a high school football game! It was fun to watch and even better because his team won!! Yea!! As I was sitting there, I started looking at the track that surrounds the football field and was remembering my days as a runner. I was a sprinter. A 400m sprinter! So that means running once around the track in a sprint! I turned to my mom and said "I can't believe I used to run around a track like this in a full sprint." I kind of got the butterflies thinking about it.
When I was at Ricks College, I ran track my freshman year. I was able to go to the NJCAA championship in Odessa, Texas. I remember running the 400m. It was the semi-final heat. All I had to do was get 7th place to qualify for the final heat. I remember running around the last curve headed for home. As I turned to head straight home for that last 100 meters,

I hit a wall....

not literally...

It was the Wind! It was blowing so hard, I didn't think I was going anywhere! So needless to say, my legs just couldn't run any faster, and I ended up in 8th or 9th place. It was a bummer, but I'm just glad I even made it as far as I did.

It's amazing how much faster runners have gotten in the last twenty years.

Go all you runners!!!

I don't know how Hunter loves to run. I'm doing a 1/2 marathon next May...but I'm terrified of how I'm going to actually get to that day!

Here it goes again. I just showed Paul and Jonathon this post and they are way impressed.
We didn't know this tidbit about you. Do you still like to run? (I had too many 'abouts' in my previous post and had to edit it :) I sure enjoyed having lunch with you the other day. Jonathon sold his books for a fraction of what he bought them for. Oh, well.

I don't really have too much of a desire to run anymore. I wish I did. Since I was a sprinter the long distances just don't make me too excited. I think I would do some jogging if I had a running partner. I'm just not dedicated enough to get out there and run especially by myself. The last time I did any running was when Lori Stotts lived in our ward!
